On 15th April, 1915, the 1st Cornwall Light Infantry battalion of 14th Brigade, 5th Division moved into the front line near Hooge, just outside Ypres on the Menin Road. In the evening of 17th April, the day on which Arthur Morgan was killed, the Royal Engineers blew two mines at Hill 60, just to the south of the battalion’s trenches which triggered artillery action by both sides. |
